Ho Shin Do Karate is an affiliate member of Goju Ryu Karatedo Seiwakai, with most of our instructors holding dan ranks in Goju Ryu Seiwakai.

All of our Australian instructors hold dan ranking in the JKF Goju Kai, the major governing body for karate in Japan.

Chief Instructor - Shuji Tasaki Hanshi
Founder of Goju Ryu Karatedo Seiwakai
9th Dan JKF Goju Kai
DOB January 20, 1933
Died January 2011
1952 Started studying Goju Ryu Karate.
1986 Acquired the rank Goju Kai 8th Dan and the title of Hanshi.
2008 Awarded the rank Goju Kai 9th Dan.
Actively serves as Goju Kai Deputy Chief of Board of Directors, a Central Examiner and a Manager of Kanto Region.
Tasaki Shihan also won the All Japan Goju Kai championships ... with a broken arm!
Tasaki Shihan is also a reknowned practitioner of ikebana (Japanese flower arranging). These 2 elements are obviously showing go (hard) and ju (soft). His nickname was Goshu, given by Gogen Yamaguchi. Shu being an abbreviation of Shuji (his name) and Go being hard, therefore hard/tough Shuji.

Taking over from Tasaki Shihan, Fujiwara Shihan is now the Chief Instructor of Gojuryu Seiwakai. He runs the Honbu Dojo in his hometown, Seiichi Fujiwara also owns his own restaurant and hotel in Omagari, Akita, Japan and is an excellent chef.
