He also holds the rank of 4th dan in Shotokan from Sport England, 2006. From 1990 until 2005, Rod was a full time student and instructor in both Australia and the United Kingdom. During this time he was instrumental in building and running many clubs. With a successful tournament career and recognised as both an international grading examiner and tournament referee he understands what it takes to reach the top level. His experience running big clubs and guiding the path of thousands of students throughout the years is what makes Ho Shin Do Karate special.
Rod competed in the JKF Gojukai Australian Championships in 2011 and was the Kata Champion for both Open and Veterans Division, showing some of the special technique and balance that make Ho Shin Do karate unique in the karate world. With an understanding of the internal and external dynamics of training, understanding the benefits to the body and proper training mechanisms, as an instructor he is passionate in the development of technique and body presence.
'You must be present in all parts of your body at every moment of training. This mindfulness training allows us to let go and be clear with our thoughts and intentions.'
Rod received his Bachelor of Science in 1990 from Adelaide University and also has a Bachelor of Health Science in Acupuncture. Rod works as an Acupuncturist in Brisbane in his mutil-modality clinic, Go2 Human Performance. He is also instrumental in the development of one of the most important web based learning tools on the net, www.iDojo.com.au as it was his passion which brought so many great masters together to teach in this one online site.
