Through its affiliations, Ho Shin Do Karate students are able to enter a range of tournaments throughout the year. These include tournaments held by the Japan Karatedo Federation Goju Kai, the Australian Karate Federation, the Australian Koshiki Association and includes circuits such as the Australian Martial Arts Championships and National All Styles.
It is considered that the pressure and experience of demonstrating kata in front of a judging panel, or competing in kumite with another karate-ka is the modern equivalent to an otherwise real fight. This is something that most students will find to be a benefit, even if it's just once to have a try and to say you've done it.
