Gall Bladder 24 is the target of our ura tsuki (short stomach punch). On the upper abdomen, directly below the nipple, in the 7th intercostal space, it is the crossing point on the Gall Bladder and Urinary Bladder Meridians, and it aligns with the floating rib.
Strike this point diagonally up and in - a progression of the punch for more advanced levels is the tightening of the wrist slightly on impact helping to define the ‘upward’ portion of the impact.
When the point is struck effectively it will not only be very painful, but it also has the potential to shut the Gall Bladder down. This can result in any number of negative effects on the body including vomiting, swelling and jaundice - so keep some perspective when practicing around there.
